Pre-show jitters!

I always get nervous for NYC shows. I don't know why. I just want it to be good so badly, and I guess I put pressure on myself, because I'm only here maybe twice a year, so I feel like I have to make a really good impression. Arg!

I guess I have to come to terms with the fact that I'm not perfect. No one is! If everyone was, this world would be super booooring. So in that case, tonight's show should be super interesting, because I'm sure to mess up a lot!

So tonight, I'm going to enjoy myself and all my mistakes. Because this is who I am. Let's all make mistakes together! Yay!!! :)

love,
p. ahn

  9. Well put.
I probably learn more from my failures than from anything else.
Best of luck on your show anyhow :)
Doing what you love and being yourself is most important.

  11. You'll do great. It's easier if you think of "mistakes" as moments that make each experience unique. They're one of a kind...can't be replicated. It's a wonderful creation!
Wish we were there to share in what is sure to be a magical night.

    Cheers to you!

  16. How'd it go? And great attitude! I've seen many shows, nyc, seattle, miami, etc and full of mistakes and ackward moments that the audience always laugh off and support the performer b/c they have chosen to be there for the performer as much as to gain something from the show. I've heard more cheering at foibles of support than even some great performance cheers. For yourself, use it as a learning moment. My first public event that I had to speak in front of an audience...I was completely ackward and nervous and goofy , said "um" a lot and kept putting my hands up and down as if to say "and that's it". Be your full self, and everyone will love you.

  18. yay! you're right. it's our mistakes and flaws that makes us unique and interesting; in your case Priscilla is why you are so "perfect" :) you'll be fine tonight. I'm sure everyone will love you!

  19. Really cute post/pic, Priscilla. Chances are, no one will notice any mistakes you might make...unless it's a really bad one. LOL! Regardless, I've no doubt that NY will be treated to one of the most beautiful and brilliant performances it's ever seen...with or without mistakes. But sometimes mistakes in live performances are charming and fondly-memorable. One of my favorites is from The Corrs and their '99 Unplugged performance of "Runaway". Listen to the very end of the song in the video. :-D

  21. I am sure you did fantastic. My sister and I were talking about you the other day and how we honestly think you have the voice of an angel :) But yes, nobody's perfect so we shouldn't put too much pressure on ourselves. I hope to see you perform live one day! Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world.

  23. So glad to hear I'm not the only one! My nerves always get the best of me, and I end up kicking myself later. Good luck, and I hope we can both learn to enjoy our mistakes and laugh at ourselves a little bit :)

  26. Dear Priscilla,

I hope you had a fun and productive show. Although I wasn't able to attend, I DID just listen to (and download) the title track from your forthcoming release!

Thank you for offering this gift to your fans. From the the opening count-in (punctuated by the drumsticks), followed by the muted horn and your "bom, bom,pa" in the right channel, the song is another quiet gem. Its universal theme is strong and the message is positive and hopeful. I especially like the lyrics (and the images thereby created) concerning drawing with chalk on the walk and the "summer days that never end."

By the way, please don't ever overly concern yourself about messing up or making mistakes. When people appreciate an artist, even a virtually "perfect" one, they tend to accept (and even embrace) each performance, even when flawed. In your case, your ever present sense of humor and lack of pretense allows the atmosphere to remain comfortable and relaxed, regardless of any "problems."

Thanks, again, for the advanced listen. It's going to be another remarkable album.

    Peace and Love,

    Charles
