Thank You 2012

{painting by Camilla Engman}

I am so thankful for everything that 2012 brought my way!  2 new albums for Japan (one of which I produced!), writing a theme song for the Japanese drama "Soko wo nantoka", visiting my family in South Korea, singing with the legendary Shin Joong Hyun, a memorable trip to Kaua'i where 1 not-so-small reef shark was spotted 20 feet below me, and now the start of my 3rd full-length album!  And all of these wonderful experiences would not be possible without the love and support from my friends, family, and beautiful fans.  So if you're reading this, thank you so much for helping me keep my music alive, and giving me these wonderful memories that hopefully I can share with you through my music somehow.

This year, like every year, came with ups and plenty of downs.  I have to be so thankful for those "downs" too, because without them, I'd have no challenges to teach me the much needed lessons and reminders of 2012, that *hopefully* I can carry with me into 2013.

Lessons on how to take better care of this planet that I live on and will share with my children.

Trials to test my patience and compassion.

Reminders that I'm not perfect, and sometimes that's ok {insert deep breath here}.

Reminders that people can and do change.

Reminders that even though we live in a sometimes overwhelming world of war, senseless acts of violence, corrupt politics, and everything else that's depressing on the news... there are still people out there who are, one by one, doing their best to make a difference.

Here I am in the studio being a dork.  I am having SO MUCH FUN making this new album.  Some of these songs are quite intimate, and some are songs you can dance to (but not Pop!).  Although I was super stoked to see my name come up on the iPhone app SongPop!  Ha!  (A game that I officially suck at since it took me almost 2 seconds to recognize my own song!)

Since I'm in the middle of recording, that means no touring right now.  So instead I'm doing a live online show through Stageit, on Jan. 17th.  Tickets are however much you want to give.  A portion of the proceeds will go to My Sandy Hook Family Fund.  (Dress Code: sweatpants and PJ's appropriate)

And last but not least, I would LOVE to hear from YOU!  Please share with me one thing you're thankful for in 2012, and one new year's resolution/goal for 2013.  I'm always inspired by your thoughts and ideas!

I wish you all a happy and healthy 2013 filled with love love love!

love,
♡priscilla

  3. I'm thankful for the success I've had in my career this year as a television editor. And most of all I'm thankful for my amazing girlfriend Chelsea, who is the love of my life.

Resolutions...of course fitness stuff, like every year. I'd also like to travel somewhere outside of North America, which would be a first for me. And career-wise I would like to edit a feature film and a music video.

  5. You've switched me into reflective mode. The findings are too despicable to mention.

I'm grateful for every kindness; witnessed or unobserved. For the playful moments. For expanding.

Here's the rub. At a glance, my highest hopes for 2013 is to tread water in a defensive stance. Despicable!

    I prefer your perspective :)

    1. Thank you for all your kindness and support in 2012! With all that comes our way, I try to remind myself to let it in, and then let it out.... breathe breathe breathe. Most often easier said than done though!

  6. That is a lovely goal! I really need to start writing in my journal more. I would've made it one of my 2013 goals, but I already have so much I want to do with this coming year, I didn't want to push myself. Besides, I want my journal to be something I go to organically, and not something I force myself to do, because then it becomes artificial for me. Congrats on your third album! I absolutely adore your songs and can't wait for this next one to come out. :D

  7. I thank 2012 for discovering your music! As a very modest singer/songwriter myself, I'm so inspired by you. Your voice is amazingly pure and your writing deep without being sad, a hard thing to achieve. Many thanks and lots of success to you!

  9. Happy New Year Priscilla,

I am thankful for something terribly dorky-blogs! They feed a creative bent and it is a comfort to know that there are a whole lot of people with kind, kind hearts and beautiful intentions.

And I'm keeping my goal for the new year simple--Go to bed early. Something that is awfully hard for me to do, the night owl that I am.

    1. Oo! That's a good one! I need to do that too, because I wake up so late every day. But I am my most creative at night. Harumph! What are us night owls to do?? Read blogs I guess.... ;)

  10. Hello prisclla, happy new year 2013. I just discovered you from a very beautiful song called "dream" through jango radio(iphone app). I was looking for the soundtrack of children story I am currently writing on, and when the song popped, i thought, this is it... Is it okay for you if I make it as a soundtrack of my main girl character? It suits her a lot :)

I've been searching for your songs ever since, and fallen in love with your music right after.. Its just bring me to my other world, being tired of hearing those mainstream lately.. and I think you're one of a kind! So I hope in 2013 i may hear morefrom you, and do you know where can I found your album? Sorry because I think my silly music store in town doesn't sell any of yours..*sigh*

Well I am thankful of everything back in 2012, achievements and friends I gained, and I hope this year I can work better and finish my simple children storybook. I wish you all the great, priscilla!

    Greetings from Indonesia
    Your new fan,

  13. Hi Priscilla!

I am thankful that 2012 gave me a flash of light in realizing that being impatient with the limitations of others is a miserable way to live. And it's an even worse way to try to help that person. Which, you see, is particularly important since I am a high school teacher! So I have forgiven all of my girls for their imperfections (who even knew I was holding such a grudge!) and can now get down to this teaching business. And so I love them. And it turns out, when you love someone, they will love you back! I thought you might like that. I know I do.

Anyways, drop me a line if you happen to be in Boston... I've been wanting to be friends with you for a long time. And I'll be tuning into your concert tonight! Looking forward to seeing you.

    love,
    Bridge

    1. Wow... what a beautiful and honest confession. So wonderful of you to recognize and want to change! Everyday I'm seeing my flaws too... and slowly trying to change my old habits. It's quite challenging! But super rewarding in the end!

Would love to come to Boston soon! Thanks for tuning into the concert!! xo

  14. Priscilla! Your StageIt show was so great. It was like an amazing one-way Skype session. The informality of it all made it feel even more personal and memorable. I LOVE your new song "Remember How I Broke Your Heart" - cannot wait for your new album.
